Why Does Everyone Hate Dirk Nowitzki's New Haircut?

Dirk Nowitzki is famous for a few things: 1) being really good at basketball 2) being one of the first pure-shooter seven footers in NBA history, and 3) his hair. For years, Nowitzki sported a mop of wavy, bouncy blond locks that were impossible to ignore during his sprints up and down the court. It also looked pretty damn awesome in slo-mo during his signature fadeaway jump shots. But yesterday, Dirk decided to do away with his signature locks and, well, it didn't sit well with teammates.

"It's so bad. It's so bad," said Mavericks guard Chandler Parsons. "He came in here feeling himself, too, thinking we were going to love it. We had ball boys crushing him, coaches, everyone on the team. I have a feeling he's going to change it here soon because he can't take the beating we're giving him."

So, what exactly did Dirk do to deserve this kind of scrutiny? Did he shave his head? Get a mohawk? Dreadlocks? Cornrows? Turns out, all he did was trim up the sides and back, leaving a modern, medium length haircut. Dirk took to Twitter to share the new vibe alongside the news that his teammates had begun calling him Ellen Degeneres.

We actually think things could be a lot worse. In fact, we're just going to come out and say it: We think Dirk looks pretty damn good. So even though teammate Zaza Pachulia said, "If I were him I'd just totally shave (it), do something about it," we disagree. In fact, it's Zaza's super boring haircut that's in need of an upgrade.
