You Can Now Buy Clip-On Man Buns, But You Really Shouldn't

You can now buy a clip-on man bun for the low price of $9.99 (the actual listed value is $65.34!) on Groupon. Now, we're gonna go out on a limb here and say that this marks the official death of the trend. Groupon is advertising the buns as an alternative to the real thing for guys who want to sport the hairstyle, but not all the time. It's a no-commitment man bun, because hipsters can't and won't be tied down, even to a hairstyle. And because guys with jobs that discourage long hair deserve to let it all hang out on the weekend—by umm, clipping it on. To be fair, on their website Groupon writes about the buns with irony.

The description reads:

"This attachable—and, equally important, detachable—man bun lets youblend in with your surroundings, putting it on when you smellfair-trade coffee or hear a banjo, and taking it off when someoneutters the word bro."

Pretty meta right? This is a novelty gift. Maybe it was meant to come out in time for Halloween, but because of production delays they've been forced to pivot. But guess what, Groupon isn't the first company to make clip-on man buns. Back in April, the clothing label ASOS, posted their version to Twitter—for April Fool's.

No matter how much you want to throw away $10, we don't think you should buy a clip-on man bun—not for yourself, nor as a 'funny' gift. And though it was inevitable—nothing can burn so bright forever—we're pretty sad to see the end of what was, in its purest forms, a truly glorious trend. RIP man bun.
