The 6 Best Grooming Moments of the Week
The best grooming game—i.e. a good haircut, some tended-to scruff, and hydrated skin—can make a huge difference in how a man looks. And if you ignore all three, well, you won't look like a DGAF rebel as much as an intensely hungover, decade-older version of yourself. In order to motivate you to visit the barber regularly or just change up your routine once in a while, we're bringing you a recap of the best grooming moves of the week.
Colin Farrell’s Convincing Goatee

As a general rule, we here at GQ are anti-goatee. It's one of those totems of early-’90s pop culture that, unlike Doc Martens and baggy pants, should be left there. However, Farrell makes a surprisingly strong case here for us to not fully give up on it. By keeping the 'stache, the under-lip portion, and the under-chin portion and getting rid of the weird connecting bits from mouth to chin, he's kinda giving us some low-key ’90s vibes that are perfectly on trend.

We often talk about the perfect hair-to-beard-length ratio, with the biggest takeaway being: Avoid the tennis-ball look. Well, Beckford took on the no hair/full beard look, which is rarely attempted. Naturally, he killed it. A full head of hair plus that wildman beard would have been too much damn hair, but with nothing up top, the unkempt beard is actually kinda cool. Does it help that he's a model? Sure. But it's a look that any bearded guy can try by just going with a buzz cut up top.
Joe Manganiello’s Spring-Ready ’Do

Guys, can you feel that in the air? That whisper of spring? We can, too, and so, apparently, can Joe Manganiello. You can't tell from his heavy coat, but the dead giveaway is right on top of his head, with his trimmed hairstyle and beard. It's the perfect springtime ’do—not a buzz cut that says, "It's summertime and I need as little hair as possible" or the longer, unkempt locks of deep winter, but the perfect in-between fade that's sharp but not quite beach-ready.

While we may have just told you about 2017's hottest new haircut—the buzz-and-bleach—actor/singer Jordan Fisher took one of its core tenets and applied it to his slightly longer hairstyle. Don't worry about your roots growing out. In fact, you should embrace the look. As colorist David Stanko told us: "Roots on a bleached head, it's a hot look. It's that perfect five o'clock shadow look that doesn't come across as sloppy or happenstance, but instead looks like a conscious move.
