Joe Jonas Has Joined the Gothleisure Movement
It was 2015 when athleisure reached its tipping point—the moment when it was added to the dictionary and everyone decided that, hey, you can wear gym clothes outside of the gym, so why not just wear them to everything from restaurants to weddings (maybe not that far, but you get what we mean)? Cut to 2017, when women in yoga pants and men in tailored sweats are the norm, and a full-fledged industry has been born. Just look to the fact that Nike is the top apparel company on this year's Forbes 500 list (released today), and Under Armour is slowly making its way through the ranks to the top—while other brands like Lululemon and Outdoor Voices are crowding the market. In other words, athleisure ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
And here we have Joe Jonas—who, by the way, we get it, Joe, you're buff—proving our point. Jonas was just taking his leisurely workout stroll carrying some kettlebells in Los Angeles, because that's what celebrities in L.A. do when they're not slurping down copious amounts of green juice. But, naturally, the 27-year-old had to have on a workout kit that would rival most guys' normal outfits, because what if the paparazzi catch you (spoiler alert: they did).
We've seen the whole tights-and-shorts thing try to surface once or twice, but admittedly it's a hard look to pull off—though, if you're working out, we'll give it a pass. Jonas is making a strong case for it, but he certainly helps sell it with the kettlebells in hand. Meanwhile, he is making sure to include this season's on-trend track-style shorts, a sporty graphic hoodie, and black accessories to match. Bam, you've got an outfit ready for wherever the day may take you. Consider it equal parts sportscore and gothleisure, but 100 percent worth trying out for yourself.
