Gillette Just Reinvented Your Razor

Gillette has long sat at the top of the shaving heap through innovation, both technological (five blades!) and promotional (remember that free Mach 3 you received in the mail on your 18th birthday?). By now they’ve perfected the shaving experience, right? How much can it be tweaked, really?
Turns out we forgot about the third dimension. Most razors operate by going in two directions: you move the handle forward and back while the blade pivots up and down. Today, Gillette introduced Fleall Technology, which has a second pivot on the handle, allowing the blade to move laterally and hug tightly to the contours of your (surely chiseled) jawline with a bit more precision. In short: you’ll make longer strokes and miss fewer hairs.
When I first heard about it, I assumed we were in Spishak Mach20 territory: a gimmick to convince me to buy a whole new round of overpriced razor blades with no effect on the number of stubble left behind. (Note: it works with all Fusion ProGlide blades.) But then I tried it. And you know what? It does provide a better shave. I’m not saying it changed my life, but I had a more enjoyable shaving experience. And the smallest things in a droll morning routine can make all the difference.
The new razor, officially called Fusion ProGlide with Fleall Technology, is hitting the nation on June 9. You can pre-order on Gillette’s site if you’re REALLY excited. In the meantime, continue shaving the same, sad two-dimensional way you’ve been doing so for your entire post-pubescent life.
