End of an Era: Jon Hamm Has an Edgy New Haircut
Even though Mad Men’s last episode aired almost a year ago, it’s hard to separate Jon Hamm from Don Draper. Not because they share particularly similar personalities or taste in clothes. We suspect it’s partly the hair. The square, slicked-back cut Hamm sported when he played Draper on the show was the male equivalent of Jennifer Aniston’s haircut in Friends. That is, it was sort of a movement. Sadly, the day has come for Hamm to adapt to our sportier, edgier times with a new look and, with it, a less Don Draper-inspired persona too.

Hamm changed his hair for a new crime drama he’s filming called Baby Driver. Matched with some salt-and-pepper stubble and a faux neck tattoo, he looks dangerous in a less sexual, more criminal way than Don Draper. Like a guy who'd steal your car instead of your wife. Undercuts have that quality to them.
While we aren't sold that the cut is anything more than a requirement for his current role, we like that Hamm switched things up. We enjoyed the Don Draper years as much as anyone but it was certainly time for a change. Especially now that Hamm finally got his Emmy for the role.
