The Men of Broadway Are Having a Moment
LAB SERIES Skincare for Men has recruited an ensemble of New York’s up-and-coming Broadway talent—but not for the usual song and dance. Instead, they gave GQ a behind-the-scenes look at the series of how-to videos they produced featuring these talented men. The LAB SERIES “Men of Broadway” video series features a handful of stage stars performing demos of the skincare brand’s diverse product line and unveils some of the best things you can do for your skin.

Why tap Broadway stars? The sensational success of Hamilton, for one thing, has put theater center stage. And all those hours spent under the lights, and facing a crowd, have given these Broadway pros a solid understanding of the topic at hand. “I feel like the face is the doorway to everything else,” says former Hamilton cast member Brandon Hudson. “To bring Broadway performers to talk about skincare, and how skincare relates to their profession and who they are, I think is super important.”
“Skin is the first thing people see,” agrees dancer Alex Wong, best known for roles in Newsies and The King and I.
“Looking good and feeling good is extremely important in my career,” says Matt Doyle, an alumnus of West Side Story and the original Spring Awakening.
“Men’s skin is different from women’s skin in certain aspects. Men need products that are specifically formulated for their skin, and LAB SERIES Skincare for Men understands this,” explains Corey Cott, currently starring in The Interestings on Amazon Prime.
And these guys are just four of the twelve singer-actor-dancers walking viewers through LAB SERIES' line of masks, moisturizers, shave creams and more in the all-new video series. Other names include Hamilton star Brandon Victor Dixon, Corey Cott (formerly of Newsies), Alan Shaw (taking his final bow in Les Misérables), and Christopher Rice (Book of Mormon).

A dapper crowd turned out to celebrate the LAB SERIES collaboration (and to watch the Tony Awards) earlier this summer at a special event they hosted at The Gent, GQ’s invitation-only, experiential space in downtown Manhattan. Style influencers including Luke Ditella and Ian Michael Crumm were in attendance along with Broadway legend Tommy Tune. Drinks and gift bags were had, and there was a skincare touch-up station manned by celebrity grooming expert Jodie Boland.
