Ryan Lochte Predictably Committed the Cardinal Sin of Platinum-Blond Hair
When I dyed my hair platinum blond last summer, I was told that my new look came with a set of rules. 1) One must regularly wash one's hair with purple shampoo, which counteracts the yellow-y tones that develop c/o sweat, dirt, etc. 2) Don't go in pools, as it can turn the shimmering white into witchy green. Actually, those were pretty much the only rules. Apparently, U.S.A. swimmer Ryan Lochte never got the same instructions I did, as he recently dyed his hair platinum despite his line of work. As one might expect, all those pool chemicals led to predictable, not-so-awesome results.

Now, Lochte is no stranger to playing the villain—JEAH!—and the new greenish ’do makes him go from a Silver Surfer type to more Joker-y vibes. (Yes, that is a comparison across the Marvel-DC Universe, sorry nerds.) And it seems Lochte is aware of his new green locks (pun very much intended), as he posted an Instagram that upped the green hues to the max. At the end of the day, any hair, whether it's brown, blond, green, or no hair at all, looks sharp next to a gold medal. Congrats to Lochte and Team U.S.A.
