Zach Galifianakis Loses a Bunch of Weight, Looks Great in a Suit

Zach Galifianakis, world-renowned funnyman, ace interviewer, and GQ cover star, reappeared after nearly a year out of the spotlight, sporting some interesting thoughts on the cult of celebrity and a stunning weight-loss transformation—our coverage of which, obviously, feeds into exactly the kind of celebrity obsession he’s talking about.
"I think celebrity is a manmade thing," said Galifianakis. "It’s not innate in us, we have people telling us, ’We should pay attention to these people,’ for all the wrong reasons, their personal lives and whatnot... I’d rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime." And accordingly, there will be some who comment on how he looks "weird" with his new profile—just like they did with fellow comedian and biggest-loser Jonah Hill—how he’s not the big jolly oaf they know from the Hangover movies. But you know what? Good for Zach. He’s doing what’s best for himself and his health, he’s still got more comedic chops than the rest of us put together, and he cuts a mean figure in a suit now, to boot. Okay, yeah, so we’re not a fan of the new Jesus hair, and we need his beard to return to its original, bushy, magnificent self, but otherwise, dude looks good! Something tells us he’ll still find some work in this town, no matter what comic pigeonhole people had him stuck in before.
And for the rest of us, well, it just goes to show that getting in shape is a great way to amp up your style quotient without ever visiting a tailor. Here’s a good place to start.
