Here's How to Pull Off a Winter Buzz-Cut and a Beard

Doubling down on a buzz-cut when the weather forecast calls for blizzards and Bomb Cyclones might sound counterintuitive, but we can think of several reasons why it's not only a sound choice, but an excellent one. For starters, a new haircut is a great way to shake up your style when it's too darn cold to rethink your clothes. A buzz-cut also eliminates hat-hair stress from the equation—and balaclava stress too. And if you're stuck at home to due to the weather, it'll give you something to do with your time other than binge TV and eat. Finally, and most importantly, it looks really good. Lamorne Morris and Max Greenfield of New Girl are here to remind of that fact with their winter sweaters and winter scruff. Okay, sure, this particular panel discussion took place in LA, where both men currently reside, but still. Cold-climate friends, this could be you at a cozy bar, looking like the A-lister of your hood.

It's important to note that part of the reason why Morris and Greenfield look so handsome is that they've both got their hair-to-beard ratio in check (the other part, we'll admit, is that they're professionally good looking). Morris's hair is military short, while his beard is longer and a bit more unruly. Greenfield, meanwhile, has more of a George Michael thing going on, with his caesar-style crop and short, impeccably groomed facial hair. The point is, neither of them has hair and scruff that's the same exact length or the exact same texture. That friends, is what makes you look like a tennis ball, and it's not good for business, even when the bar is set a bit lower than normal due to inclement weather. So shave your head this weekend, or later this winter, just use your beard as guide for what not to up top (or vice versa).
