What Matthew McConaughey's Epic Beach Runs Can Teach You About Outdoor Workout Style
Welcome to TBT, a look back at the epic style moves from decades past. Up today: Ten years ago our favorite southern movie star getting a run in on the sands of Miami Beach.
Who: Matthew McConaughey
When: 2006
Where: Miami Beach, Florida
Why: Whether you've been working on your beach body since February or frantically trying to make up for lost time starting today, every guy could use a little motivation. And there is no man alive more motivating than actor and inspiration to future selves everywhere, Matthew McConaughey.
Ten years ago, the chillest human on earth, was as well-known for his movie roles as he was for basically working out all the time. On a beach. Shirtless. (As you may already know, running on the beach is a great workout because the sand has literally no bounce—making each step more of an effort.) McConaughey took full advantage of the sun and sand during his much-photographed workouts, running in the type of gear you'd expect to see on the Airstream-owner: cargo shorts, Oakleys, a bandana cum headband, a gold signet ring, a silver and turquoise cuff, and a Livestrong bracelet (he was running with Lance Armstrong a lot in those days).

To be clear, we can't really encourage you to wear this in 2016. But we can encourage you to take a big old Texas-sized bite out of life just like McConaughey did here. And if you're gonna wear a headband, it's pretty cool to make one out of your favorite bandana.
