There's a war coming, and it's between two natural enemies: beards and hot weather. The former is every guy's favorite grooming move (still). The latter, a style ruiner if ever there were one. Kit Harington, star of Game of Thrones and breaker of hearts, showed off his freshly shorn cheeks while greeting fans in London this week following his stage performance in Doctor Faustus. Of course, the actor is most ardently admired for his shoulder-length waves of raven hair, but the beard was kinda part of the whole deal—it really tied the look together.

While the loss of Jon Snow...’s beard isn't crazy, there's only so much of Kit Harington's epic cranial facial mane we can stand to lose while a GoT season is airing. Needless to say, we're gonna miss it, even if we totally get why he might want to lose the scruff before summer temperatures get too unbearable. A beard in 90-degree heat is by no means comfortable. So while we're mourning the death of his beard, we now have no choice but to objectify the man for his impeccably smooth skin.
