Proof That It’s Not Too Late In the Season To Get A Buzz Cut

If there were ever a time to get a buzz cut, summer was it. Clean and neat, plus incredibly easy to maintain, buzz cuts are perfectly suited for the season’s hot, humid weather, given the increased amount of scalp they’re apt to expose. That said, just because Labor Day’s only a few days away (and autumn coming up hot behind it) doesn’t mean that you can’t still take a trimmer to that perfectly faded mane of yours and give the style a shot. Case in point: Jeremy Renner, who stepped out yesterday at the Venice Film Festival sporting a freshly shorn skull, his subtle form of rebellion against the end of everyone’s favorite season.

But first, let’s back up to Tuesday, when Mr. Renner arrived in Venice a day ahead of the festivities. As he sauntered casually across the tarmac, we saw the man rocking something along the lines of his usual ‘do. That is, generally short, longer at the top, messy all over. It’s a classic cut, one that works particularly well for Renner, and so we thought that’d be the look he’d stick with for the duration of the festival.

Cut forward to yesterday, and we quickly realize that we were sorely mistaken. Sometime in the hours between stepping off the airplane and making his first appearance to promote his new film, Arrival, the actor seems to have taken a moment with a stylist and a set of clippers, and dare we say the guy’s way better off for it. Fresh no matter how they're done, close-cut ‘dos like this one lend the perfect cleaned-up-yet-edgy vibe to any look, whether paired with a killer pair of sunglasses and fitted black short-sleeve button-down, like Renner dis here, or with a turtleneck and topcoat later in the season.

As we’ve said, it really may very well be the most versatile haircut out there.
