It’s endearing listening to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton talk about getting ready for “work.” Because despite the fact that his office is a 75,000-seat football stadium and his salary is (ugh, forget it) the 6’5, 245-pound record breaker starts his day like you. He wakes up around 6:30 A.M., hits the snooze button, checks the forecast and stumbles around looking for the socks and shirt he laid out the night before. He cleans up with a few products he likes and others that are just there, then walks twenty minutes uptown to his day job (work starts at 8:00). At 25, he’ll stop to get a chai tea latte en route, because he still loves sugar, and black coffee is too strong. He listens to a few tunes to get the juices flowing for what could be a twelve hour day. And then the similarities end, because while you’re fatiguing your finger muscles with mouse clicks, he’ll be stepping between ice baths and prepping his body to withstand the blow of a ferocious linebacker.

Back at home, Newton’s cleanup plan for all that genetically gifted surface area is fairly simple. We spoke with the face of men’s scent Drakkar Essence (yep, you can smell like him, too) for the details.

**THE SCENT: **“I’ve been wearing fragrances my whole life. I remember growing up as a kid Curve was dear to me, you know when you’re 13 and first being sought-after by females and trying to smell good. Today I’m not into old-fashioned scents or anything too strong that smells like old people. I like something sweet and easy for the nose.”

**THE HAIR: **“I get it cut weekly at my barber. I haven’t grown it out in a couple of years, it depends on my mood. Right now I’m going to stay low.”

**THE FACE: **“I can’t grow a beard to save my life so I don’t have a shave strategy. When I see my barber he takes off the little sprigs and that’s about it. If a lotion smells good, it’s going in the cart. But half the time I have no idea what I’m using, I’m not really the kind of guy that looks at ingredients.”

**THE BODY: **“I like a body wash that gets me going or is energizing. Peppermint is good, something to open the pores up.”

THE EXTRAS: “I’m big on hands and feet, manicures and pedicures are very important to me. I also get regular massages, they make you feel better emotionally and take off some off that stress load. My doctors recommended acupuncture a few years back so I’ve been playing around with that. It’s been a great way to untangle and unwind, sort of get back in the groove.”
