This Was A Really Good Week for Famous Guys's Haircut
Welcome to another edition of Grooming Gods, a weekly recap of the best men's grooming highs (and sometimes lows) courtesy of our favorite stylish gentlemen across the globe. This week was all about really, really good hair in all its crazy forms. Even if you look nothing like any of these guys, you have to appreciate their commitment to a look.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Mountain Man Beard
Actors don't tend to cross the threshold from playboy scruff to mountain-man beard unless they've been around the block a few times (see: Jim Carrey) or they're filming something that requires them to look like some kind of 14th Century Scottish sword fighter. [Pulls up Aaron Taylor-Johnson's IMDB page] Yep, it's the latter. Still, for what it's worth, we're feeling the English actor's owning of said beard in his real-life too.
Charlie Heaton's Heartthrob Chop
Everything about Charlie Heaton, from his name to the fact that he is dating his costar from Stranger Things, Natalia Dyer, feels very '90s heartthrob. And we mean that in the best way. We especially appreciate the actor's tapered haircut. From the wet finish to the tight tuck behind the ears and the tendril dangling around his eyes, the whole thing is very Johnny Depp. More young, single-enough men should embrace this look.
Jussie Smollett's Natural Curls
Jussie Smollett has been wearing his hair like this since the summer but it's so good, it deserves a moment of recognition now and then—like when he does a little Prince nod and wears it with a double-breasted purple suit at our Men of the Year party. While part of the appeal of this look is seeing all of Smollett's super-tight, super-hydrated ringlets in all their perfect glory, we would also love to see what this cut looks like all brushed out. Smollett definitely has the swagger and wardrobe to pull off a full-on afro, we know that.
Tommy Dorfman's Wavy Step Cut
Tommy Dorfman's step cut gives all of his outfits some extra attitude, even though they're plenty edgy on their own. But the fact that the actor looks great in this cut isn't just because he has the style and confidence to own it—it's also that it works with his face shape. Dorfman's strong jawline balances out the top-heaviness of this cut while the soft, wavy texture takes away some of the severity of the angles at play here.
Oscar Isaac's Gray Waves
Oscar Isaac can literally be sitting on a couch in a sweater, not really doing anything, and he will still steal the style spotlight as far as we're concerned. His natural handsomeness and A+ wardrobe are commendable but his wavy, naturally gray hair is also a big part of the formula. Remember when Oscar Isaac wasn't gray? Not to be dramatic, but the world was a less interesting place.
