Wanna Wear Ripped Jeans? Don't Miss This Crucial Grooming Step
As with pretty much every other category in menswear, there are rules that govern the wearing of ripped jeans. The holes shouldn't expose any of your thighs, and they shouldn't be large enough for your wallet to pass through them.
You also really shouldn't put them on if your knees are really dry.

But that's exactly what the otherwise unimpeachably stylish designer Virgil Abloh did on Thursday. Abloh, who's the creative director of the line Off-White and a close personal friend of Kanye West, was spotted at Balmain's fall 2016 show in a pair of ripped black jeans that exposed his extremely dry knees. Once photos of him circulated online (he was seated with West and West's mother-in-law, Kris Jenner, so there was no hope of him escaping anyone's notice), the ridicule was unavoidable. "Virgil's ashy knee doe," one commenter tweeted."Stars, they're just like us." (The same person later followed up by saying, "I also just bought a bunch of Shea Moisture products this week so I'm feeling very arrogant."
Luckily, this fate is easy to avoid. While a daily moisturizing regimen is recommended, it's never more important than on a day when your outfit is going to expose your knees and elbows, which can easily look dry and scaly regardless of your complexion. If you're leaving the house in ripped jeans, apply some lotion to your knees before you put them on and you shouldn't have any problems.
