Designer Todd Snyder Literally Loses Sleep Over Fashion Week, and We've Got Proof

It may not look like it, but putting together a fashion show requires a lot of work. In fact, the more effortless it looks, the harder it probably was. The lead up to New York Fashion Week is crunch time for designers like Todd Snyder, who showed his Fall-Winter 2014 collection at Lincoln Center last night. Before the models hit the runway in the esteemed hub of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Snyder had plenty to do: pick and choose looks to show, cast models, and find a tailor who could fit clothes short notice.
"Fashion week is such an anomaly," says Snyder. "It’s really hard to have any life balance. I didn’t get a whole lot of sleep and didn’t get a whole lot of ercise." During the week leading up to his show, Todd Snyder wore a Jawbone UP24 fitness tracker to keep a record of how many steps he was taking and how much sleep he was getting each day. "There was probably a lot of pacing back and forth," he says. The results show that the designer definitely lost some sleep during the hectic week before his collection—sometimes getting under three hours a night. "It’s a lot of running around," says the designer. "It’s like you constantly gotta run uptown to get leather, or you gotta run downtown to get something. It’s always very, very chaotic."
So for anyone who thinks menswear is a cakewalk, the facts certainly paint a different picture. For proof, check out Snyder’s UP24 data:
