Jared Leto Just Perfected The Slider
Jared Leto, hair god, world’s greatest grooming chameleon, and soon-to-be rom-com star, has spent his summer playing a lot of music, wearing a lot of Gucci (literally, all of the Gucci), and, naturally, growing out all of his hair. There was a moment when it looked like he was going full ‘70s folk singer with it but, during an appearance on Extra in Los Angeles yesterday, it became clear that his new look isn’t quite that easy to peg.
His beard? His beard is full mountain man big. Like, Rick Rubin big. His haircut has levels. There are shorter layers in the front that tendril out around his forehead in very Jordan Catalano ways. There’s also a wet texture going on, due to either shin-enhancing hair product or ditching shampoo and simply bathing in sweat during his tour. And anchoring it all in back is the actor's applause-worthy execution of a slider. That would be the happy medium between a nub and a man bun and the logical styling solution for the guy who's growing his hair out but isn't into ponytails (i.e. all of us).
According to the trusty Internet, this makes something like the 40th distinct grooming look Jared Leto has sported since he became a famous person over two decades ago. And just like his other 39 looks, he pulls this one off in a way that most men probably could not. (Though long hair is good hair; you should give it a try.)

Where Leto will head next with his grooming status is anyone’s guess. He is set to reprise his role as The Joker in not one, but two forthcoming Suicide Squad movies so a fresh shave, cut, and dye job seems imminent. Who knows what will happen between now and then.
