Last night was the beginning of the end for Mad Men, as now there are only six episodes left before one of TV's best all-time dramas reaches its conclusion. Though Don was up to his old tricks, clean-cut style included, a couple of supporting characters—Roger Sterling and Ted Chaough—fully embraced '70s era style in the form of big, unapologetically creepy mustaches. But who did it better? Let's take a look at their respective cases for king of the lip rugs.

**Roger Sterling: O Captain! My Captain!

**

Mustaches in the early '70s may bring to mind the golden age of porn, but Roger's looks more like something a fisherman would sport than anything else. You know, if fishermen wore impeccably tailored double-breasted suits and threw 100 dollar bills at diner waitresses just to be a dick.

Roger's mustache also makes him look about 10 years older than he is, which could be good or bad, depending on how you look at it. On the one hand, maybe it's a sign he's finally going to stop acting like an emotional man child. On the other, it just makes all of his fooling around with girls half his age seem even creepier.

Ted Chaough: The Matchy 'Stache

Ted didn't have much to do in the premiere other than stare at girls in fur coats with Don, but his mustache is a sign he's going to make some big statements in these final episodes. By comparison, his stache is way more Tom Selleck than Roger's Hulk Hogan, though, we must say, matching one's facial hair to their suit and tie is never a wise style move. Hopefully, next time around Ted opts for a grey or navy suit, though with mossy color palette of the '70s, we're not holding our breath.

**The Winner: Roger Sterling

**

Sterling's got a whole Lorax-meets-Sam Elliott thing going for him, which is pretty hard to beat for anyone, not just Chaough. Ted still didn't put up much of a fight, but there's hope if he can get some new suits and new swagger.

**In Memoriam: Michael Ginsberg's Lipholstery

**

Though the new guys in the 'stache game are getting all of the credit today, we wanted to take a moment to honor the life and death of Michael Ginsberg's trend-setting mustache. It wasn't the bushiest, the darkest, or the most well-groomed, but we'll be damned if Ginsberg didn't own it. Hopefully there's no ban against facial hair in whatever mental facility he's in now.
