Mark Burnett is a legendary reality TV producer, best known for working on shows like Survivor, Shark Tank, and most recently The Bible, the History Channel miniseries that is not exactly reality television, but isn't not reality television, either, necessarily, if you think about it. So perhaps it's not a huge surprise to see Mr. Burnett out and about sporting a wildly unkempt brown-and-gray beard that makes him look like a contestant on every single one of his shows, all at once. (Or like he found a squirrel while lost in the Survivor jungle, and it lives on his face in a rather touching gesture of companionship and cross-species symbiosis.) Seriously, the shows are all there: Scraggly, lost-in-the-wilderness length and grooming style? That's Survivor chic. A motley mashup of colors, lending him a slightly messianic vibe? That's The Bible. (And A.D.: The Bible Continues, premiering Sunday!) And the sharp, if slightly too busy suit? That's a perfect fit for the trying-too-hard titans of commerce that populate the Shark Tank. Our facial hair advice: Pick one style and stick with it. The best kind of beard is a beard that knows what it wants to be. Or, we suppose, Burnett could double down: Great Beards of the Bible sounds like a hell of a quasi-reality series.
