Can Tom Hiddleston's Gym Gear Strategy Get You Tom Hiddleston's Body?
Not long ago, this publication declared the death of lazy all-black workout kits and endorsed a more curated and colorful array of gym gear. But maybe it's time to reconsider.
Because instead of focusing on what to wear to the gym, maybe we should all be honing in on what we're going to do once we're there. That's pretty clearly the strategy of actor (and Taylor Swift's new boyfriend) Tom Hiddleston, who was spotted in New York this weekend head-to-toe noir athleisure. Hiddleston, who's been taking his clothes off a lot lately for projects like The Night Manager and High-Rise, picked a black Nike T-shirt bearing the logo of Legendary Entertainment, the production company behind another recent Hiddleston project, Crimson Peak. He paired what's clearly one of those free t-shirts you get for showing up to the office on time and doing a good job (bonus points for the word "legendary" across the chest which is braggadocious in a deeply satisfying way) with black running shorts, black sneakers, and pair of classic black Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Very corporate health goth.
What this tells us is that the actor is a lot more concerned about his rep count than he is on what he looks like when he's sweating it out. And you probably should be, too: concentrating on what you can achieve at the power rack produces much better results than the outfit you're when you're there. One need look no further for proof of this than Hiddleston's shoot in the July issue of W, for which he's wearing, well, considerably less than you see here.
