Jaden Smith's Buzz Cut Is Working Overtime
This weekend at Beautycon—a Los Angeles beauty-industry festival—Jaden Smith flexed his grooming skills with a brand-new hair color: something between pink and neon red, faded down to blond on the bottom. Whether it was a fresh dye job, a washed-out, grown-out version of the burgundy color he was sporting last month, or a little of both is difficult to say. Whatever the answer, it contains a lesson: The 19-year-old proved that buzz cuts don't have to be boring—and can free you up to take more chances with your hair.

Frank Ocean is another dyed-in-the-wool practitioner. (Sorry.) From blond to green and blue, the singer debuts a new color practically every time he's photographed. Because he keeps it so short, however, it makes a statement without feeling like a big, bold, "look at me" moment. And by the time you notice it, it's basically grown out and back to brown again—or yet another hue.

Being a young and handsome celebrity helps, but dyeing your hair pink or blue or green (or just blond) really only requires one thing: confidence. Just do us a favor: If you don't go to a professional, at least read up on how to dye it yourself before breaking out the peroxide. The look is burnt-out pink, not burnt-scalp bleached.
