This Man Braid Trend Is Getting Ridiculous
A surprising number of men have taken to Instagram to show off their gently flowing French, waterfall, and otherwise fantastical braids. These hipster gentlemen, we presume, are bored with their man buns and looking for something a bit more fun to do with their hair. So instead of trimming their flaccid faux-hawks, they are opting for creative braids (actually we prefer braidzzzz). If idle hands are indeed the devil's workshop, it makes sense to go on YouTube and find a man-braiding tutorial, right? Here's one:
Or you could ask literally anyone within ten feet of you to show you how to braid.
We're going to go out on a limb here (albeit a very sturdy one) and let you know that this "trend" cannot and will not ever truly take the place of our most beloved novelty male hairdo. The man bun will be back, next spring and summer, to delicately reflect the sun's rays in real life and on social media. But, in case you disagree and find yourself so inclined, here are a few questions you should ask yourself before you try a Harry Styles side braid:
Do you know how to braid hair?
If not who will do the braiding for you?
Are you from the future?
Are you a centaur?
Will you put your braid on Instagram, and what hashtags will you use?
Are you prepared for all the people who will want to touch the braid?
No matter what you answered to any of these questions, we suggest you take a hard pass on the man braid for now. But if that leaves you frustrated and empty inside, you can always braid a lady friend's hair like American hero Chris Pratt, who is a secret glorious braider.
