I am a pajama guy. When I was a kid, I favored the snuggy, huggy ones in winter and the blousy ones in the summer, but now I wear blousy year-round. My concession to winter is cotton flannel jams when and where it's cold. Generally, my preference is a fine cotton. I have had some very luxurious Italian-made pajamas in my time, but I prefer the more generous cut of pajamas from Paul Smith and Brooks Brothers. Unlike the dapper Italians, I have no desire to be sleek en déshabillé. I understand that some gentlemen like to lounge in their pajamas and some, like the aggressively comfortable Messrs. Julian Schnabel and Hugh Hefner, consider them eveningwear, but my pajamas are meant only for the family and the UPS guy if he's running early.
